Meet Casey
CEO and Principal Designer at Kathleen Casey Design Inc.
Born in Toronto, I discovered my love of interior design in my early teens. I dreamt of applying that love to designing and making furnishings as a carpenter. While my creativity and love of woodworking remained, I took a different route in university, studying criminology and sociology.
After university, I found my way into a successful decade-long career in the tech industry with a focus on creating products and services that deliver meaningful customer experiences.
In parallel with my tech career, I began the arduous process of renovating my home. I launched a long-running blog, House By The Bay, documenting my DIY adventures. This creative outlet lit the spark that eventually prompted me to leave the tech world and return to school to study my first love–design.
I subsequently launched my own firm under my given name, Kathleen Casey. In addition to the joy of using my creativity to design beautiful, highly functional spaces for my clients, I was thrilled to discover that the customer-focused skills I developed in the tech world directly benefited my interior design clients through the exciting, worry-free experience I’m able to give them.
My personal experience as a co-care partner for my late father inspired me to become a Certified Living in Place Professional (CLIPP), committed to creating accessibility, comfort, and safety in every home. As a past volunteer for Parkinson Canada and a current board member of Dancing with Parkinson’s.
